Career bingo makes career exploration interactive and fun for students who might otherwise tune out a lecture about job options. Each square represents a different career, industry, or work-related trait. Students play the game while learning about diverse career paths, making it a favorite activity for school counselors, career day organizers, and college orientation programs.

What Is Career Bingo?
Career bingo uses the familiar bingo format to expose students to a wide range of career options. The caller reads descriptions of different jobs — duties, skills required, education needed, or fun facts — and students mark the matching career on their card. It prompts students to think about careers they may not have considered before.
How to Play in a Classroom Setting
- Distribute career bingo cards to students
- Read a career description: “This person designs buildings and structures” (Architect)
- Students find and mark the matching career on their card
- Pause for brief discussion about each career
- First student to complete a line wins
Career Day Bingo
During school career fairs, give students bingo cards with squares representing different presenters or industries. As students visit booths and listen to presentations, they mark off the careers they learned about. It motivates students to visit a variety of booths rather than just the ones they already know about.
Discussion starters: After each career is called, ask: “What surprised you about this job?” “Could you see yourself doing this?” “What skills would you need?” These brief discussions deepen the learning beyond just marking squares.
Career Bingo for College Orientation
Adapt the concept for college freshmen exploring majors and career paths. Squares represent departments, majors, or campus resources. New students play while learning about opportunities they might not discover on their own.
